Program Overview
Overview
The Bachelors of Engineering (Honours) / Science is a dual degree program that combines an honours-level engineering qualification with a science degree. This program expands career opportunities across multiple industries and allows students to develop technical expertise in their core specialisation, with the option to enhance their skills through a major or minor in an emerging field.
Program Structure
The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in both engineering and science. The engineering component offers six specialisations: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, and Software Engineering. The science component offers a broad range of disciplines, including Archaeological Science, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Science, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Coastal and Ocean Science, Computer Science, Earth Science, Ecology and Conservation Biology, Environmental Science, Food Science and Nutrition, Food Technology, Genetics, Geographical Science, Marine Biology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Plant Science, Psychology, Public Health, Statistics, and Zoology.
Majors and Minors
The program offers various majors and minors that allow students to tailor their studies to suit their goals. Majors include Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Archaeological Science, Artificial Intelligence, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Science, Bioprocess Engineering, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Coastal and Ocean Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Earth Science, Ecology and Conservation Biology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Food Science and Nutrition, Food Technology, Genetics, Geographical Science, Geotechnical Engineering, Marine Biology, Materials Engineering, Mathematics, Metallurgical Engineering, Microbiology, Mining Engineering, Physics, Plant Science, Psychology, Public Health, Statistics, Structural Engineering, Sustainable Agriculture, Transport Engineering, Water and Marine Engineering, and Zoology. Minors include Artificial Intelligence, Computing, Data Science, and Design.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must meet the entry requirements, which include:

- OET is not accepted
Inherent Requirements
To complete this degree, students must meet the inherent requirements by demonstrating essential skills and attributes. Read the inherent requirements before applying.
Student Visas
International students who are accepted into full-time study in the Bachelors of Engineering (Honours) / Science are eligible to apply for an Australian student visa (subclass 500).
Fees and Scholarships
The indicative annual fee for domestic students is $8,195, and for international students, it is $58,056. The program offers various scholarships, including the University of Queensland Scholarship and the Engineering and Computer Science Scholarship.
How to Apply
Domestic students can apply through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC), while international students can apply directly to the University of Queensland. The program code for the Bachelors of Engineering (Honours) / Science is 2493.
Important Dates
The closing date for this program is May 31 of the year of commencement for semester 2 and November 30 of the previous year for semester 1.
Admissions Schemes
The University of Queensland offers several admissions schemes to improve students' chances of getting a place at UQ.
Pathway Options
A rank or score doesn’t determine a student's potential. If a student is not offered a place in their first-choice program – or if they don't meet the entry requirements – they still have a number of options.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Applicants
For support with applying – or if students have any questions about university life – they can get in touch with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (ATSIS) Unit.
