The School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences offers Higher Degree by Research (HDR) programs, providing an ideal way to kick-start an academic career or add an extra edge to professional practice. HDR students produce new knowledge and expertise that is innovative, relevant, and progressive.
Program Details
The HDR programs at UQ are the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Students will be supervised by researchers internationally renowned in fields such as:

Available PhD/MPhil Opportunity
Active Choices Springfield is a new and exciting social support project that aims to promote active and healthy lifestyles for veterans in Transition from Defence. The project is a collaboration between UQ, Gallipoli Medical Research, Springfield industry partners, and the Queensland Government.
Scholarships
- Dr Alf Howard International Travel Scholarship: Awarded annually to allow a UQ HMNS Research Higher Degree student to undertake international travel that will improve the quality of their research.
- HMNS Research Student Travel Awards: Supports RHD student attendance at academic meetings of international standing.
- The UQ Graduate School manages a number of scholarship schemes that provide financial support for tuition fees, living costs, and travel, enabling students to focus on their research and achieve the best results.
