Overview
The Advanced Food Product Development: From Concept to Commercialisation program is a masterclass designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to bring a new food product to market. This practical, hands-on training is tailored specifically for the food manufacturing sector, drawing from industry best practices and cutting-edge research.
Program Details
- The program is a 1-day workshop held at UQ St Lucia, with a virtual classroom available upon request.
- Participants will explore new product development case studies and lessons learned from these events.
- The program provides an opportunity for participants to put their skills into practice by running a novel food through a new product development process.
Start Date
The program start date is 9 July 2025. This program can be run for cohorts on request, with minimum numbers required to proceed.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, participants must:
- be aged 18 years or over
- work in the food manufacturing sector This training is ideal for food safety managers, operations and quality assurance staff, and new product development/research and development officers.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Participants with recent work experience may be eligible to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning.

Fees
- Full fee: $545
- Australia's Food and Beverage Accelerator (FaBA) offers funded places in this course for people working in the food and beverage manufacturing industry, with a non-refundable co-contribution fee of $75.
- The program is free for UQ Alumni and FaBA delegates.
