The School of Theatre and Music at UIC offers various programs in theatre and music.
Theatre Programs
The theatre programs include:
- BFA in Acting
- BA in Theatre and Performance
- BA in Theatre Design, Production, and Technology
- Minor in Theatre
The BFA in Acting program provides conservatory-style training in a liberal arts setting. Students work closely with world-class faculty from Tony Award-winning theatres and take six semesters of voice for the actor and six semesters of movement for the actor. Eight semesters of acting culminate in a semester-long audition class taught by casting directors from the Goodman Theatre and Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
Student Highlights
A former student, Andrew Neftalí Perez, Class of 2017, BFA Acting, has achieved success in the field, including being an Artistic Associate with Urban Theatre Company and a Jeff Nominee for Performer in a Supporting Role. He has also appeared in various TV shows, such as The Chi (Showtime), (FOX), and Chicago P.D. (NBC).
