At a glance
Fortify your passion for kids with the science of behavior to promote positive development. In the early childhood education major, you will take classes about child development and how family, community, and culture play a role in this dynamic period of the lifespan. You’ll learn how environmental and social factors affect physical, cognitive, and emotional development in children ages 0-8 years old (infants through 3rd graders). You’ll start with advising and classes in the followed by coursework in teacher licensure. The first two years of your program can be completed on campus or online.

Some Career Options
You’ll graduate ready to work in a wide range of childcare areas serving preschool through third grade. This major will prepare you to apply for state licensure in early childhood education and the Large Center Childcare Director Qualification in Colorado. Many graduates pursue teaching endorsements and advanced degrees to increase their teaching options. Whatever path you choose, you’ll make a meaningful difference in children’s lives and the community.
