Program Overview
The Graduate Certificate in Business Information Systems is designed for individuals who work with information technology (IT) departments, have clients or customers in technology fields, or who want a broad introduction to information systems. This nine-credit program is offered online and can be completed in 2 semesters if courses are taken concurrently or 3 semesters if courses are taken sequentially.
Certificate Details
- The program is designed to provide industry-specific knowledge relevant to conducting business in various technical environments.
- Students learn from the same faculty as on-campus students and earn the same certificate.
- The credits completed as part of this online certificate may be applied toward the computer information systems master's degree after formal admission per University transfer policies with a grade of B or better in each course.
Curriculum
The curriculum for the Graduate Certificate in Business Information Systems includes:
- CIS 570: Business Intelligence (3 credits)
- CIS 600A: Project Management: Information Technology (3 credits)
- CIS 601: Enterprise Computing and Systems Integration (3 credits)
- CIS 676: Information Technology Management (3 credits)
- Students must select 9 credits from the above courses.
- Admission to a business graduate program and/or additional coursework may be required to meet prerequisites.
Admission Requirements
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year institution in any field
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from the most recent degree completed
- International applicants: minimum TOEFL or IELTS scores
- Additional requirements may include:
- Academic performance explanation if GPA was lower than 3.0
- Proof of English language proficiency for applicants from countries or United States territories where there are official languages other than (or in addition to) English
