Collaborative Veterinary Program

The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program is a collaborative effort between the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Colorado State University.

Admission

Admission to the UAF/CSU combined program is paused for the Class of 2030.

Curriculum

• Years 1-2 at University of Alaska Fairbanks
• Years 3-4 at Colorado State University
• Students will receive the same course content for the first and second years at UAF as they would at CSU

Application Information and Deadlines

1. Follow the general D.V.M. application process, ensuring you complete the Combined UAF/CSU (Alaska) Program section of the Colorado Supplemental Application.

• If you indicate you wish to be considered for the combined UAF/CSU program (on the Colorado Supplemental Application), your application will additionally be considered in the regular D.V.M. admissions pool.
• When decisions are released, if you receive an OFFER to the UAF/CSU program, you will not be further considered in the regular D.V.M. admissions pool, regardless of whether or not you accept or decline the UAF/CSU offer.
• If you are denied or designated as an alternate for the UAF/CSU program, your application will be considered in the regular D.V.M. admissions pool.
• If you withdraw your acceptance to the UAF/CSU program before/after matriculation, you will be dismissed from the D.V.M. Program.
• You will have to re-apply for admission to the D.V.M. Program.
• Transfer from the UAF Fairbanks campus to the CSU Fort Collins campus prior to the third year of the program is under the discretion of the Associate Dean of Student and Academic Affairs in consultation with the Office of Veterinary Admissions and is reserved for emergent circumstances.
• Students ranked on the non-sponsored alternate list (to include Colorado alternates), who did not flag an interest in the UAF/CSU program at the time of application, may receive an alternate offer to the UAF/CSU program as a non-sponsored student.
• If an alternate seat becomes available and the admissions committees determine a student is likely to be successful in the program, then the candidate may receive a UAF/CSU non-sponsored offer.
• A candidate may decline this alternate offer and it will have no bearing on their position on the Colorado (if applicable) or non-sponsored alternate list.
• However, if a candidate chooses to accept the UAF/CSU non-sponsored offer, it becomes a superseding offer (the only offer to the CSU veterinary program), and their application will be removed from the alternate list(s).

Tuition and Financial Aid

• Candidates who accept a non-sponsored position will pay non-sponsored tuition for all four years.
• Alaska residents who accept a position will pay sponsored tuition for the first two years of the program (in Fairbanks) and non-sponsored tuition for the last two years of the program (in Fort Collins).
