The Mindfulness Training for Everyday Life program offers an introduction to the fundamentals of mindfulness, aiming to increase awareness, manage stress, and cultivate greater joy, gratitude, and compassion.


Program Details

  • However, students can take individual courses based on their interests and needs.
  • The full program includes seven courses and costs $199.

  • LMBB 1011: This course introduces the practice of mindfulness for personal wellbeing, exploring how mindfulness practices can help gain awareness of "habits of mind" that lead to reactivity, resistance, struggle, and suffering.

  • LMBB 1012: This course explores the physiological and psychological impacts of stress, learning how to interrupt the cycle of stress and exploring mindfulness practices that can help decrease the stress response.

  • LMBB 1013: This course helps students learn to involve their minds in changing their brains for the benefit of their health and wellbeing, exploring the concept of neuroplasticity and learning how to undo negativity bias.

      • Seeding Positivity
  • LMBB 1021: This course unpacks the roots of difficult emotions like anxiety, fear, and depression, considering the ways in which negative thought patterns perpetuate and intensify these emotions.

  • LMBB 1022: This course examines how to interrupt the cycle of reaction, work with fear, and ride the waves of discomfort and loss, creating a new relationship to the controlling instinct and physical condition.

  • LMBB 1031: This course explores the habits and behaviors that maintain separation from others, examining how mindful attunement, empathy, and presence can bring about authentic connection.

  • LMBB 1032: This course explores the concepts, practices, and applications of compassion and loving kindness, learning about the relationship between gratitude, compassion, and joy.

Faculty

The program is led by Sue Schneider, Ph.D., an Extension Professor and State Health Specialist with Colorado State University's Office of Engagement and Extension. Dr. Schneider has extensive mindfulness training, including completing a 2-year certification program as a mindfulness instructor with the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley and the Awareness Training Institute. She is also a Duke-trained Certified Integrative Health Coach.
