Program Overview


Major in International Studies, Middle East and North African Studies Concentration

The Major in International Studies with a concentration in Middle East and North African Studies is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the region's history, politics, cultures, and languages. This interdisciplinary program combines coursework from various departments, including Languages, Literatures and Cultures, History, Political Science, and Anthropology.

  • Freshman Year:

Program Total Credits

The total credits required for the program is 120 credits, with at least 42 credits being upper-division (300- to 400-level). Students must complete 3 years of a single foreign language or 2 languages through the second year (L** 201). Language courses cannot double count. Select enough elective credits to bring the program total to a minimum of 120 credits.
