Course Details
JTC 340 - Video Editing
This course covers the theory and technique of editing videos, focusing on storytelling by combining video, audio, and graphic elements into a coherent whole. By the end of this course, students will learn:
- How to make awesome videos, including promos, mini documentaries, news stories, PR pieces, short films, music videos, and more
- The importance of planning before sitting down at a computer
- The importance of storytelling in editing
- How to tell a compelling visual story using a combination of video, text, soundbites, and music
- Basic principles of picture composition
- The importance of aesthetics
- The importance of ethical editing
Textbooks and Materials
- All students are given access to Linked-In Learning content, which is paid for by student fees
- Adobe Premiere Pro Access: This is the editing software for the course, and students need to purchase it for their computer or have access to a computer with it
- Recommended: Entire suite, including Premiere, for $19.99 per month for students with an annual commitment
- Premiere Pro Only: $31.49 per month with no commitment, or $20.99 per month with an annual commitment
- Hard drive: Recommended, especially for students using a personal computer, with a minimum of 1TB
- No required textbook
