Course Information

ECE 456 - Computer Networks

ECE 456 is a 4-credit course that covers circuit/packet switching protocols, LAN/MAN, TCP/IP, error correction, ATM, wireless LANS, and mobile networks.


Prerequisite

The prerequisites for ECE 456 include:


  • CS 152 (Introduction to Programming (CS0)-Python) or CS 162 (CS1--Introduction to Java Programming) or CS 163 (CS1--No Prior Programming Experience) or CS 164 (CS1--Prior Programming Experience)
  • ECE 251 (Introduction to Microcontrollers)
  • ECE 303/STAT 303 (Introduction to Communications Principles) or STAT 303 (Introduction to Communications Principles)
  • ECE 311 (Linear System Analysis I) All prerequisite courses must be completed with a C or better.

Important Information

Military personnel admitted to a College of Engineering online degree program may be eligible for a 15% tuition discount.

Dr. Jayasumana’s areas of expertise include Computer and Communication Networks, Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning for Networks, and Digital Circuit Design and Testing.
