Program Overview


Introduction to the English-taught Certified Program

The English-taught Certified Program offered by the School of Social Development and Public Policy (SSDPP) at Fudan University is designed for undergraduate degree-program students interested in exploring social topics related to China's population, health, and culture. This program aims to provide students with first-hand experiences and insights into the social issues inherent in China's modernization and integration into the world.


Program Overview

Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded a certificate that will enhance their resume. The program is also open to exchange students who can take courses as optional modules to gain a deeper understanding of China's issues.


Course Directions

The courses in this program are categorized into three directions: population, health, and culture.


Population

The population direction courses discuss the interconnection between demographic change and socioeconomic transformation, exploring the socioeconomic consequences of population policies in China.

    • This course examines the impact of the One-Child Policy on China's birth rate and provides students with diversified perspectives on China's demographic landscape.

Health

The health direction courses explore the social dimension of health, emphasizing how factors like class, gender, and ethnicity intersect within cultural contexts.

Culture

The culture direction courses extensively explore historical and contemporary practices and policies related to Chinese religions.

    • This course introduces students to the sociological study of religions and beliefs, explaining differing perspectives on the significance of Chinese religions in both ancient and contemporary society.

Program Activities

The program organizes tours to Shanghai landmarks and neighborhoods, allowing students to talk to local people and gain a deep understanding of daily life in Shanghai.
