Program Overview

The Doctorado en Ciencias (Física) is a doctoral program offered by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). The program aims to provide students with a solid and rigorous formation in Physics, particularly in the field or fields of knowledge of their interest and research line, as well as to enable them to conduct original research in areas of frontier and current interest.

The objectives of the Doctorado en Ciencias (Física) are:


  • To provide students with a solid and rigorous formation in Physics, particularly in the field or fields of knowledge of their interest and research line.
  • To enable students to conduct original research in areas of frontier and current interest.
  • To prepare students for teaching and dissemination of high-level academic knowledge.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Doctorado en Ciencias (Física), students must:


  • Have basic knowledge of Physics, as well as the field of knowledge of their interest.
  • Show ability to analyze and develop in detail a current topic in Physics, as well as to propose an original research project.
  • Have the ability to elaborate academic reports in writing and expose them in public.
  • Be able to read texts in English.
  • Show curiosity to understand the Physics associated with natural phenomena and a marked interest in contributing to expanding current knowledge through research.
