Program Overview

The Doctorado en Economía (Doctorate in Economics) is a postgraduate program offered by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). The program aims to form high-level researchers who can make original contributions in their field of specialization, with recognized academic excellence at the national and international levels.

Program Objectives

The objective of the Doctorado en Economía is to form resources humanos dedicated to high-level research, who can make original contributions in the field of knowledge in which they have specialized, with recognized academic excellence at the national and international levels.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, applicants must possess solid knowledge and demonstrate the necessary research skills to develop and conclude their research successfully. They must be able to prepare a research project that contemplates a topic of frontier science in economics, know the relevant bibliography, incorporate a hypothesis, describe the methodology to test it, and be able to propose a feasible work plan to complete it within four years.

The applicant should possess solid knowledge and demonstrate the necessary research skills to develop and conclude their research successfully.

Perfil de Egreso

The graduate will have the capacity to realize frontier research and will be qualified to work as a high-level professional in any labor field, given their theoretical, methodological, and technical competence.

Perfil de Graduación

The graduate will be able to develop frontier research and will be capable of defending it before a highly qualified jury in the research topic. With this capacity, the graduate will be able to work in the development of research activities in frontier topics in their field of knowledge, as well as in the formation of high-level human resources in institutions of higher education and research centers. Additionally, they will be able to exercise their professional activities in the solution of problems and design of options to address them in public and private spheres, serving as responsible for the elaboration, operation, and monitoring of policies or as an advisor or consultant.
