Introduction to the Diplomado en Meteorología y Climatología

The Diplomado en Meteorología y Climatología is a comprehensive program designed for professionals in the field of geosciences. The program is targeted towards professionals in the public and private sectors, including:

• Workers in the public sector (e.g., SMN, CONAGUA, SEDEMA, SEDENA, CENAPRED, CFE, SEMAR, SENER, INECC, PEMEX, SEMARNAT, state and national research centers)
• Workers in the private sector (e.g., insurance companies, telecommunications, energy sector, media outlets focused on meteorology)
• Students of postgraduate programs or interns

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must have a bachelor's degree or be pursuing a postgraduate degree in earth sciences, physics, chemistry, engineering, or related fields.

Program Structure

The program consists of two options:

• Option 1: Participants must complete the core modules (60 hours) and choose 4 specialized modules (60 hours), totaling 120 hours.
• Option 2: Participants can choose the desired modules, totaling 60 hours.

Core Modules

The core modules include:

1. Meteorología general (15 hours)
2. Termodinámica de la atmósfera (10 hours)
3. Dinámica de la atmósfera (20 hours)
4. Climatología general (15 hours)

Specialized Modules

The specialized modules include:

1. Programación para la meteorología y el clima (15 hours)
2. Modelación numérica: WRF (15 hours)
3. Pronóstico meteorológico (basado en WRF) (15 hours)
4. Instrumentación atmosférica: superficie y percepción remota (15 hours)
5. Cambio Climático (15 hours)
6. Eventos extremos de tiempo y clima. Manejo del riesgo (30 hours)
7. Oceanografía y meteorología marina (15 hours)
8. Hidrología (15 hours)

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for the program are:

• Option 1: $25,000.00 MXN (full-time)
• Option 2: $17,500.00 MXN (part-time)

Scholarships

Four full scholarships and four partial scholarships will be awarded to eligible participants. The selection of scholarship recipients will be made by the program's organizing committee.

Registration and Payment

Registration for the program will take place from January 14 to January 31, 2025. Payment must be made by transfer, deposit, or check. A letter of commitment from the participant's institution or organization will be accepted, with the condition that payment is made by March 31, 2025.
