Program Overview
Ed.S. Concentration
The Educational Specialist Degree prepares individuals who aspire to pursue careers in literacy education in colleges, schools, districts, and corporate settings. Individuals also pursue careers in community education initiatives across disciplinary fields as well as careers within the children’s and young adult and textbook publishing industry.
Program Details
- Course work can be completed within two years of admission into the program.
- The thesis may be completed within one semester and up to two years.
- The entire program may be completed in two to four years, depending on the student’s full-time or part-time status.
Program Format
- Many of the courses are offered online.
- The program is referred to as a “hybrid” program due to the blending of online and face-to-face courses.
- The Ed.S. Program is primarily taught on USF's Tampa campus.
- Some courses may be offered on other campuses, but not consistently.

Admission Requirements
