The Department of Pediatrics fosters an atmosphere of tolerance and free exchange of ideas, where we are personally and professionally enriched by our differences. We celebrate all backgrounds and value our students, residents, fellows, and faculty. Together, we hope to create a safe space where we can learn from one another and continue to grow.

Pediatrics Residency

USF Pediatrics offers a residency program that creates a caring but challenging environment. For almost 40 years, the Department of Pediatrics has trained residents and produced leaders who serve in our local community as well as nationwide. We are very proud that many of the pediatricians in the Tampa Bay area trained at USF, which has strengthened our medical community.

Program Overview

The program is known for creating a caring but challenging environment. In addition to training excellent primary care pediatricians, we have an excellent history of placing residents at a variety of top fellowship programs throughout the country.

What Makes a Good Residency Program

A good residency program consists of:

• The People: residents who care about each other, faculty passionate about teaching and who support residents’ personal growth, topnotch administrative staff
• The Places: facilities that support the learning environment, a variety of clinical settings in which to learn, state-of-the-art simulation facilities
• The Opportunities: for collaboration, for academic stimulation, for individualized learning plans, for variety, for fun
