Introduction to the Master’s in Supply Chain Management (Global) Program

The Master’s in Supply Chain Management (Global) program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business, is designed to prepare students for a global supply chain career in just one year of study. This program approaches supply chain management from an integrative perspective, covering economics, operations and logistics, risk management, leadership, and IT.

Program Overview

The MS in Supply Chain Management (Global) program is a cohort program with a single, integrated group of students who learn and build professional connections as a team. The program includes face-to-face classroom instruction on UT’s campus in Knoxville, as well as study abroad opportunities in Panama or Vietnam, providing students with a global perspective and the skills necessary to excel in managing global supply chains.

STEM Designation

International students may be eligible to apply for a two-year extension of their Optional Practical Training (OPT), known as the STEM OPT Extension, provided they are on OPT and their employer participates in the E-Verify program.

Career Impact

The program prepares students to approach their careers with the goal of becoming chief supply chain officers, leveraging this field to increase business advantage. Companies are beginning to see a marked advantage in having a chief supply chain officer, and the demand for professionals at every level of the supply chain is increasing.

Career Services

The Haslam College of Business hosts a Supply Chain Forum twice a year, attended by upwards of 200 supply chain professionals. Supply chain students meet with these professionals in small and large group settings to discuss career opportunities and learn best practices in the field. The supply chain programs also rely on an advisory board of 40 senior executives from top supply chain companies, who help inform the curriculum to ensure students have expertise in areas necessary for their success.

Experience with Employers

Each student will experience a capstone project working with a major corporation for both Fall and Spring semesters. The capstone is dedicated to practicing skills learned throughout the program and applying them to a global challenge with the host company. Students gain hands-on experience with a real-world supply chain, exposure to different corporate cultures, and practice soft business skills, management, and leadership lessons.

Admissions

Requirements

Applications for the MS in Supply Chain Management (Global) are submitted through the University of Tennessee’s Graduate School.

English Language Proficiency

For applicants whose native language is not English who have not previously studied at UT, the TOEFL or the IELTS test is required, with scores provided directly by ETS to the UT Office of Graduate Studies.

Estimated Program Cost

• In-State: $21,300
• Out-of-State: $41,862 Tuition and fees do not include room, board, books, and supplies or other living expenses. In addition to these costs, students admitted to the MS in Supply Chain Management (Global) program will be responsible for a $6,000 program fee ($3,000 per semester).
