Program Overview

Allgemeines zum Studiengang

The study program for the "Lehrdiplom für Maturitätsschulen" (LfM) provides a pedagogical-didactic education, in addition to the subject-specific master's degree, which qualifies students to teach at a Maturitätsschule. The Lehrdiplom study program corresponds to the EDK guidelines in the "Reglement über die Anerkennung der Lehrdiplome für Maturitätsschulen" and has been recognized nationwide in Switzerland by the EDK since April 11, 2011.

The study program can be completed for one teaching subject or for two teaching subjects, comprises 60 ECTS credits, and usually lasts four to six semesters due to the study structure. If study achievements in the subject-specific area need to be supplemented or made up for, the study program is extended accordingly. The study program can be started at the earliest when entering the master's program. A prerequisite for this is dual enrollment! (enrollment in the master's program plus enrollment in the Lehrdiplom study program).

The Lehrdiplomausbildung for the subjects Sport, Bildnerisches Gestalten, and Musik is offered at the ETH or at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste.

Zusätzliche Qualifizierungsmöglichkeiten

Berufspädagogische Zusatzqualifikation

Within the framework of the Lehrdiplom study program or later as a separate study program, the "Berufspädagogische Zusatzqualifikation" can be acquired, which enables Maturitätsschullehrpersonen to teach at Berufsfach- and Berufsmaturitätsschulen as well as at Handels-, Wirtschafts-, and Informatikmittelschulen according to the guidelines of the Staatssekretariat für Bildung, Forschung und Innovation (SBFI).

Immersionsdidaktik

Students who want to teach their subject or subjects in immersive instruction in English can take the two-semester course "Didaktik des Immersionsunterrichts an Maturitätsschulen (Englisch)" within the framework of the elective modules. The course can also be taken later as part of a continuing education program.
