Studieninhalte

The study program in Fachwissenschaft Pädagogik und Psychologie consists of both educational science and psychological content. Educational science deals with educational and training contexts and examines processes as well as professional practices of education, training, learning, helping, and socialization under general and special conditions. Psychology is concerned with human experience and behavior as an individual and in social contexts. It explores human development over the lifespan, focusing on both internal and external conditions of development.


In the Bachelor's program in Fachwissenschaft Pädagogik und Psychologie, students engage with central concepts, theories, and the history of educational science, as well as the basics of social, developmental, biological, personality, and neuropsychology. They gain insights into the history of education and training and into the societal conditions of development, education, training, and assistance. They acquire knowledge in the methods and procedures of quantitative social research as well as in qualitative social research or historical and text-analytical research.


Studienziele

Graduates of the Bachelor's program in Fachwissenschaft Pädagogik und Psychologie are familiar with the basic concepts, sub-disciplines, theories, and history of educational science, as well as the basics of social, developmental, biological, personality, and neuropsychology. They possess knowledge in the methods and procedures of quantitative social research as well as in qualitative social research or historical and text-analytical research and have insights into the history of education and training and into the societal conditions of development, education, training, and assistance. Graduates can work in educational science research projects.


Berufsperspektiven

The Bachelor of Arts in Fachwissenschaft Pädagogik und Psychologie qualifies students for admission to the second stage of study, the Master of Arts in Fachwissenschaft Pädagogik und Psychologie. It also enables students to work in fields that require an academic background in educational science and psychology, including pedagogical universities, universities of applied sciences, or in-company training positions. Other fields include public and private education and social services, education and social policy, administration, consulting, development, media, and public relations. Furthermore, the completed academic education in Fachwissenschaft Pädagogik und Psychologie (Master of Arts) enables direct admission to the teacher training program for secondary schools and subsequently qualifies students to teach at secondary schools in the subject of Pädagogik und Psychologie.


Kombinationsmöglichkeiten

The Major in Fachwissenschaft Pädagogik und Psychologie (120 ECTS Credits) cannot be combined with the Minor in Erziehungswissenschaft (60 ECTS Credits). There are no other restrictions.


Studiendauer

The standard study period for the Bachelor's degree at the University of Zurich includes six semesters. However, the study period can also be longer (e.g., in the case of part-time study). Bachelor's students have to pay the regular tuition fee for the first twelve semesters of their study program. If this study period is exceeded, an increased tuition fee must be paid according to § 45 of the Ordinance on Admission to Study at the University of Zurich (VZS).
