Program Overview

The CAS UZH in Labormedizin program is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the pre-analytical steps in the laboratory medicine process.

Program Objectives

The program aims to equip participants with the knowledge of pre-analytical steps in the laboratory medicine process and the ability to identify key factors that require special attention in different areas of laboratory medicine.

Program Content

The program covers the following topics:

• Introduction to the laboratory medicine process and relevant quality indicators
• Definition of key terms, such as influence factors and interfering factors
• Pre-analytical steps in the laboratory medicine process
• Special considerations for pediatrics and contract laboratories
• Methods for improving the quality of pre-analytical steps, including training for users, measuring quality indicators using IT or proficiency testing, and manufacturer involvement in developing new tests

Program Structure

The program is part of the module "Scientific Foundations and Organization of Laboratory Medicine." Upon successful completion of this module, participants will be awarded 4 ECTS credits.
