Program Overview


MA Kulturanalyse (Major / Minor)

The specialized Master's program in Cultural Analysis provides theoretical and interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to analyze, criticize, and interpret human knowledge and actions in various cultural contexts. The program introduces students to different theoretical and historical concepts of culture, making forms of culture and their semiotic, material, and media-based constitutions readable. It analyzes culture in relation to societal power structures that co-constitute human knowledge and actions in their dimensions of meaning and critically discusses current global debates about the significance of culture. Graduates are enabled to work independently and intellectually based on analysis, criticism, and interpretation.


The MA in Cultural Analysis lasts at least four semesters and comprises 90 ECTS credits as a major and 30 ECTS credits as a minor.
