Program Overview


Master of Science UZH ETH in Quantitative Finance

The Master of Science UZH ETH in Quantitative Finance is a cooperation between the University of Zurich, represented by the Department of Finance of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics, and the ETH Zurich, represented by the Department of Mathematics.


Program Content and Objectives

This specialized Master's program offers its prospective students an advanced education in quantitative finance. A special feature is its unique combination of economic theory for finance with mathematical methods (probability theory, statistics and econometrics, numerical analysis) for finance and insurance. Recent developments in the FinTech area are included in several lectures.


Career Prospects and Further Degree Programs

Graduates have excellent opportunities to work as specialists in quantitative-oriented areas of the financial services industry. There are high placement rates in risk management, asset management or financial product development as well as connections to top consulting firms. A further career opportunity is to enter a PhD in (quantitative) finance.


Program Structure

The MSc in Quantitative Finance is available as a mono program (90 ECTS credits). The curriculum consists of two semesters of coursework followed by the writing of a Master's thesis. The program starts every year in the fall semester (mid September).

Registering for Courses

Students have to register online and within the registration deadline for all courses which they would like to earn credits for.


Recognition and Transfer of External Credits

Students can submit a petition for transferring coursework which is not part of the curriculum of the degree program.


Master's Thesis and Graduation

The same administrative procedures apply to the Master's thesis and the registration for graduation as for all other Master's programs in Business and Economics.
