Overview of the PhD Program in Epidemiology and Biostatistics
The PhD Program in Epidemiology and Biostatistics aims to attract ambitious and talented students who are interested in the methodological foundations of clinical and population-based biomedical research. Students accepted into the program will perform their research project in one of the associated research groups, according to their scientific interest and available positions. Positions are full-time and located in Zurich.
Application Procedure
All applications have to be addressed to the Life Science Zurich Graduate School. There are two application deadlines per year, May 1 and November 1.
Required Qualifications
- A Master's degree (MSc) or equivalent from a university before starting the PhD Program in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
- Master thesis / MPH thesis equivalent to 30 ECTS or 900 research hours.
- Excellent knowledge of English.
Final Acceptance Depends On
- Passing the program admission interview.
- Getting a job offer of a PhD position in one of the participating research groups.
- Satisfying the formal admission requirements of UZH or ETHZ.
How Often Can You Apply
If your application got rejected, you are welcome to apply a second time to a PhD program of the LSZGS. However, please be aware that we will not accept a third application.
Track 2 Application
Candidates who were directly offered a PhD position by a PI of the PhD program in Epidemiology and Biostatistics can apply for admission to the program via Track 2.
Additional Information
Accepted candidates should start their work within six months of acceptance to the program. In case you successfully passed the admission interview but you cannot find a job position within 6 months, you will lose your membership at the Life Science Zurich Graduate School.
