Program Overview

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master of Arts in Sports Ethics and Integrity

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Sports Ethics and Integrity is a world leading multidisciplinary programme delivered by a faculty of high-level scholars from five universities. It equips students from around the globe for careers in sports administration. Students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in sports ethics, law and governance to preserve and promote sport integrity in national and international contexts.

About the Programme

Students are trained to identify ethical issues, engage in ethical thinking, and translate decisions into ethical actions – the three core skills required to develop the sports integrity indispensable for addressing the ethical and integrity issues facing national and international sporting federations. The programme focuses on topics such as anti-doping, anti-discrimination, fair play, global sports governance, gambling, match-fixing and sport manipulation, safeguarding, Youth Olympics, Olympism and Paralympism.

Programme Structure

During the first semester of the first year, students will be based at KU Leuven. The second semester will be completed at Charles University (Prague). In the second year, students complete the first semester at Johannes Gutenberg-UniversitÀt (Mainz) or Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). The last semester is completed at one of the Consortium University partners, depending on the students' thesis specialism. At the end of the first and second year, students will attend the summer school run by the University of Peloponnese, focusing on Research Methods and Olympic Studies.
