Curriculum Structure

The MSc(Eng) in Mechanical Engineering curriculum is designed to provide a rigorous and flexible academic experience, empowering students to deepen their expertise and broaden their career prospects in the field of mechanical engineering.


Programme Requirements

To successfully complete the ME curriculum, candidates must accumulate a total of 72 credits distributed as follows:


  • Discipline Courses: Not less than 30 credits
  • Elective Courses: Not more than 18 credits
  • Capstone Experience: 24 credits

Course Selection Guidelines

  • Total Courses: Candidates are required to complete 8 courses, including at least 3 courses from List A.
  • Capstone Experience: Completion of a dissertation is mandatory, forming a substantial part of the Capstone Experience.
  • Electives: Students may select up to 3 elective courses offered by other taught postgraduate programmes within the Faculty of Engineering, enabling interdisciplinary learning and broader academic exposure.
  • Approval: All course selections are subject to the approval of the Course Coordinators to ensure a coherent and academically robust study plan.
