The Pasteur - Paris University International Doctoral Program

Overview

The Pasteur Paris-University (PPU) international doctoral program was inaugurated in 2009 by the Institut Pasteur, a world-leading biomedical research institute founded by Louis Pasteur in 1887. This program is offered in collaboration with several major Parisian science universities for students holding a Master's degree (or equivalent) from a university outside of France and who have not worked or resided in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to their recruitment.

• Students conduct their research in one of the 120 laboratories of the Institut Pasteur, which offers cutting-edge training in a large variety of topics covering:

Admission and Selection

• The call for applications opens in September, and students are selected on a competitive basis.
• Candidates are first selected by host laboratories, and their applications are presented to the selection committee by mid-November.
• Candidates who are shortlisted by the selection committee are then interviewed during February, with results communicated by the end of February.
• Selected students are enrolled in the following October for a three-year contract.

Financial Support and Benefits

• Students selected through the PPU receive a salary from the Institut Pasteur to cover their living expenses and health insurance.
• The program benefits from financial support by the Institut Pasteur, European Community, partner institutions, governmental agencies, and private foundations.
• Assistance with administrative issues and accommodation in student residences, including the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, is also available.
