Program Overview


Clinical Nutrition Program

The Clinical Nutrition program is designed for individuals who want to make a difference in the health and lives of people. Nutritionists help people live healthier lives and manage common diseases by educating and guiding them in healthy and/or therapeutic diets. They work in hospitals or other clinical settings, public health, government-funded nutrition programs, food companies, and the private sector. This program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.


Major Requirements

During the first two years of study, students will complete a series of foundation courses in natural science and social science. At the upper division level, students will take nutrition classes equivalent to those required for the nutrition science major, but they will also study subjects such as food service management, education, sociology, and communication skills to prepare for work with the public.
