Introduction to the Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies Program
The Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies program at the University of California, Davis, is an interdisciplinary major that focuses on analyzing, understanding, and implementing social changes to help people of all backgrounds, races, classes, abilities, ethnicities, sexualities, nations, and cultures.
Program Overview
The program is housed in the College of Letters and Science and offers both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a minor. Students in this program develop a critical understanding of issues related to women, gender, and sexuality, both locally and globally.
Major Requirements
The major requirements include foundational coursework in history, theory, and culture, followed by five core courses that provide an interdisciplinary knowledge of theory, research, and contemporary issues in gender studies. Students also have the opportunity to design their own specialization through six courses of their choice.
