Program Overview

Program Overview

The BS in Hospitality Administration/MA in Gastronomy is a bachelor’s-to-master’s program offered by Boston University. This program allows certain Boston University SHA undergraduates a direct pathway to enroll in the Master of Arts in Gastronomy at Metropolitan College (MET) and complete the degree requirements in two terms of full-time study.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for this program, students must:

  • Complete the following required courses:
    • SHA HF 532 Hospitality Leadership (4 units)
    • SHA HF 560 Hospitality Strategic Marketing (4 units)
  • Graduate with an overall GPA of 3.0 or better

Program Structure

The program is designed to allow students to apply a maximum of 8 units from their undergraduate degree toward the associated master’s degree. The units applied toward the master’s degree must be at the 500 level or above. Students must apply to bachelor’s-to-master’s programs before the conferral of the bachelor’s degree, typically during their junior year.

Degree Completion

Students in the BS in Hospitality Management/MA in Gastronomy bachelor’s-to-master’s program must complete at least 24 units while enrolled as a graduate student. With the 8 units from the two required courses, students can complete the remaining 8 courses (32 units) needed for the master’s degree in just two terms.

Financial Aid

Students should consult with the Financial Assistance office to learn how entrance into the bachelor’s-to-master’s program might impact their financial aid.

Accreditation

Boston University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).
