Program Overview

The Boston University Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry aims to prepare educationally qualified pediatric dentists who are competent in providing both primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral healthcare for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special healthcare needs, in the context of family, culture, and community.


Program Structure

The program is fully accredited by the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation and is structured according to their requirements for Advanced Graduate Study in Pediatric Dentistry. The Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Pediatric Dentistry requires a minimum of 24 months of full-time enrollment.

Combined CAGS with Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) or Doctor of Science in Dentistry (DScD)

Students enrolled in a combined program must successfully complete the requirements for both the CAGS and either the MSD or DScD:


  • Combined CAGS with Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) requires a minimum of 36 months of full-time enrollment.
  • Combined CAGS with Doctor of Science in Dentistry (DScD) requires a minimum of 60 months of full-time enrollment.

Accreditation

Boston University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The program is fully accredited by the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation.
