Diversity and Equity Studies Certificate
The Diversity and Equity Studies Certificate program develops students' intercultural competence through knowledge related to the histories, practices, and perspectives of diverse groups, both local and global. This program enables students to work effectively with diverse colleagues, clients, and leaders, providing a competitive edge in the increasingly transnational labor market.
Program Description
This certificate program reflects on the knowledge gained to develop strategies to work with and through differences of gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, age, religion, and class. Integrative social sciences perspectives enable bridge-building within and across differences to redress inequalities.

Curriculum
The certificate in diversity and equity studies consists of 15 credit hours of coursework, of which a minimum of 12 hours must be upper division. A minimum of six upper-division credit hours must be earned through courses offered by the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. All courses used to satisfy requirements for the certificate must be completed with a grade of "C" (2.00 on a 4.00 scale) or better.

- Up to three credit hours of experiential learning (484/499) may apply toward the electives requirement.
- Selected elective courses must come from at least two of the following subjects: ASB, JHR, POS, SBS, or SOC.
Enrollment Requirements
This certificate is open to students in any major. Students who wish to pursue this certificate should consult an academic advisor in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences to ensure that the appropriate set of courses is taken. A student pursuing an undergraduate certificate must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at ASU. Undergraduate certificates are not awarded prior to the award of an undergraduate degree. A student already holding an undergraduate degree may pursue an undergraduate certificate as a non-degree-seeking graduate student.

- Accelerated programs allow students to expedite the completion of their degree.
- Concurrent degree programs are specially designed academic programs that provide high-achieving undergraduate students the opportunity to complete two distinct but complementary bachelor degrees at the same time.
- Joint programs, or jointly conferred degrees, are offered by more than one college and provide opportunities for students to take advantage of the academic strengths of two academic units.
- The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a program in which residents of western states (other than Arizona) may be eligible for reduced nonresident tuition.
