Program Overview
The Military Studies Certificate program is designed in partnership with the U.S. Naval Community College to provide enlisted personnel, veterans, and non-military students with an interdisciplinary focus on national security, history, and political science.
Program Description
The program includes coursework on global perspectives on war and conflict, an understanding of contemporary U.S. foreign policy, and a regional focus of the student's choice on history, religion, and politics. The program also includes a capstone research or an applied project in which students explore the role of the U.S. military in advancing the goals of the nation in the past, present, or future.

Enrollment Requirements
A student pursuing an undergraduate certificate must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at ASU. Undergraduate certificates are not awarded before the completion of an undergraduate degree. A student who already holds an undergraduate degree may pursue an undergraduate certificate as a non-degree-seeking graduate student.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of this program are prepared to further advance in careers in military service or in undergraduate study.
Notes
- Prerequisite courses may be needed in order to complete the requirements of this certificate.
- ENG 101, 105, or 107 is a prerequisite requirement to enroll in IDS 350, as well as some elective options.
