Program Overview

Overview of the RN to BSN – Concurrent Enrollment Program

The RN to BSN – Concurrent Enrollment Program at Arizona State University allows students to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) while completing their associate degree in nursing at the same time. This program prepares students for the multi-faceted demands of the nursing profession, enabling them to become advocates for patients and experts in bedside care.

Program Details

  • The program is designed for students who are currently admitted or enrolled in an associate degree in nursing program at a regionally accredited community college.
  • Students take the required coursework to become a registered nurse (RN) in person at their community college, while also completing coursework 100% online to earn a BSN at Arizona State University.
  • The curriculum includes a variety of assignments and clinical practice experiences that strengthen communication, clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and interprofessional skills.

Benefits of Earning a BSN

Earning a BSN provides numerous benefits, including:

  • Career advancement opportunities
  • Higher salary
  • Improved patient outcomes, including lower mortality rates and lower failure to rescue rates
  • The National Academy of Medicine recommends that 80% of all nurses have a BSN by 2030.
  • BSN graduates may have more job opportunities, improved job security, and be considered for more competitive roles than nurses who don’t have a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

How the Concurrent Enrollment Program Works

  • This program is a pathway for academic progression, allowing for continuous, dual enrollment in both an associate degree in nursing through a regionally accredited community college and a bachelor’s degree in nursing through ASU Online.
  • Students can graduate at the same time with both degrees.
  • The program is designed to accelerate the pathway to a nursing career while minimizing costs.
