Introduction to the Double Degree Master in Political Philosophy and PPE
The Double Degree Master in Political Philosophy and PPE is a unique program that combines the strengths of the University of Groningen and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra Barcelona. This interdisciplinary program equips students with the theoretical and methodological tools to understand complex problems and assess proposals to address them.

The program is a full-time, 24-month master's degree that consists of two years of study, with the first year at the University of Groningen and the second year at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra Barcelona. The program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in PPE and Political Philosophy, as well as the opportunity to specialize in Political Philosophy research.

Program Structure
The program consists of two years of study, with the first year at the University of Groningen and the second year at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra Barcelona. The first year consists of nine modules of 5 ECTS each, including:
- Methods of PPE
- Theories of PPE
- History of PPE
- PPE seminars
- Electives The second year has three modules of courses, including:
- Theory and Methodology
- Optional courses in Political Theory and Philosophy
- Optional courses in Philosophy and the Social Sciences
- Master's thesis
Study Load
The program requires an average of 12 hours of class and self-study per week.
Focus Area Sustainable Society
The program offers a focus area in Sustainable Society, which provides students with the opportunity to specialize in this field. To receive an annotation on their diploma supplement, students must complete at least two electives related to sustainable society and write their Master's thesis on a topic related to this focus area.
Study Abroad
Study abroad is mandatory for all students, with a maximum of 60 EC.
