Course Content
The Bachelor’s degree programme in Biology equips students with a solid understanding of fundamental biological principles, as well as key competences. Topics covered include:
- Biodiversity and evolution of plants and animals
- Physiology and developmental biology
- Biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology The Biology degree programme provides students with fundamental and specialised knowledge and ways of thinking, which can also be applied in other subject areas. Students are able to describe interconnections between subdisciplines of biology and between different levels of organisation in biological systems. Students are able to plan and implement their own teaching and learning. They are able to think analytically and critically and possess specialised and subject-specific didactical skills.
Course Structure
The polyvalent Bachelor's degree opens up two qualification options:
- The academic training can serve as the basis for the Master of Education in the Lehramt Gymnasium profile if the career goal is to become a teacher.
- The polyvalent Bachelor can be the basis for a Master of Arts or Master of Science. This study decision can be made during the Bachelor's degree programme. Classes and lecturers are integrated within modules and students are examined on these during the course of study. Biology may be studied in combination with any subject which is offered as a school subject. Ideally, Biology should be studied in combination with another science.
Additional Degrees
- Master of Education (M.Ed.)
