Course Content
The degree program in Eastern European and East-Central European Studies provides students with an interdisciplinary examination of the interrelationships between languages, literature, culture, and history of Eastern and East-Central Europe. This includes the Russian-, Polish-, Czech-, Serbo-Croatian-, and Bulgarian-speaking regions. The program offers in-depth knowledge of two Slavic languages and provides an overview of the historical and cultural development of the Slavic countries.
Course Structure
The degree program is dual in nature, consisting of theoretical modules (history and cultural studies) and language acquisition modules. These are complemented by interdisciplinary competences, an excursion, and a module on Interdisciplinarity and Internationality. The theoretical modules provide an introduction to the fundamentals and methodology of History, Cultural Studies, Literature, and Linguistics. Students receive intensive instruction in Russian and a second language offered at the Institute of Slavic Studies.
