Program Overview
The Faculty of Behavioural and Cultural Studies offers a Bachelor's program in Psychology, which focuses on conveying knowledge of psychology as an empirical science. Students learn about human experiences and behavior, attempting to describe, understand, and predict human behavior in all areas of life, as well as implications for psychological interventions.
Program Structure
The six-semester program is divided into three parts:
- Module I: Fundamentals – Familiarisation with the methods of thinking, researching, and argumentation in psychology as an empirical science, as well as overarching theoretical approaches.
- Module II: Building on fundamentals – In-depth study of two of the following topical areas: general psychology I and II, social psychology, developmental psychology, bio psychology, differential psychology.
- Module III: Applications – In-depth study of two of the following application areas: clinical psychology, occupational and organisational psychology, health psychology, pedagogical psychology.

Course Content
The academic programme attaches major importance to conveying knowledge of psychology as an empirical science. Students learn about ways of thinking and research in empirical psychology and acquire the basic knowledge and skills of psychological research methods. They learn about different theoretical approaches and gain insights into the central topics of psychology.
Admission Criteria
In the regular application procedure, participation in a study aptitude test can be taken into account, among other things. Specifically, participation in the BaPsy-DGPs is recommended for this purpose, results expire five years after participation at the latest. Results of the STAV-Psych do not expire in Baden-Württemberg. Please note that the registration deadlines as well as the test are before the application deadline (registration February/March, test May).
