MSc Sustainable Energy Technology
Program Overview
MSc Sustainable Energy Technology
The MSc Sustainable Energy Technology programme at Delft University of Technology focuses on the development of sustainable energy systems. This programme is designed to provide students with a broad knowledge of the sustainable energy field and the skills to apply this knowledge in a practical context.
Track: Electrical Energy
The Track: Electrical Energy is one of the specializations within the MSc Sustainable Energy Technology programme. This track pays attention to all aspects of the sustainable electrical-energy system, including generation, conversion, transport, and storage of electrical energy. The track also covers the demand side of the electrical-energy system, including the design of energy systems for consumers such as electric vehicles.
Programme Structure
The programme is divided into two years. The first year comprises theoretical study, assignments, and laboratory work, during which students gain a broad knowledge of the sustainable energy field. Students choose three out of eight profiles, which are organized in pre-defined profile clusters. These profiles include:
- Wind Energy
- Solar Energy
- Waste & Combined Heat and Power
- Power Engineering
- Energy Storage
- Electric Mobility
- Digital Energy Technologies
- Economics & Society
During the second quarter to fourth quarter of the first year, students work in groups on an integration project, applying the technical knowledge they have acquired in a case study under realistic conditions.
The second year is devoted to electives and the graduation project, which involves participating in an advanced research or design project in an academic or industrial environment in the Netherlands or abroad.
