Program Overview

MSc Mechanical Engineering: Track High-Tech Engineering

The steady technology development of today pushes the performance of all kinds of equipment for electronics, health care, materials technology, and many other fields to new extremes. To meet the new requirements, mechanical engineering is pushed to extremes in precision, miniaturization, and multi-domain integration both for the products of tomorrow and the equipment to make those products. This requires a science-based engineering approach based on thorough understanding of not only mechanics and dynamics but also aspects such as thermodynamics, mechatronics, optics, and system miniaturization and integration.

Curriculum and Career Prospects

The program focuses on providing students with a deep understanding of the principles and techniques required for high-tech engineering, including precision, miniaturization, and multi-domain integration. The curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in this field, with career prospects in industries such as electronics, healthcare, materials technology, and more.

Student Association and Community

The program has a student association, Taylor, which provides a platform for students to engage with each other, share experiences, and participate in extracurricular activities. The association also offers opportunities for networking and professional development.

Research Areas

The program covers a wide range of research areas, including but not limited to:

  • Thermodynamics
  • Mechatronics
  • Optics
  • System miniaturization and integration
  • Mechanics and dynamics

Traineeships and International Possibilities

The program offers opportunities for traineeships and international collaborations, providing students with hands-on experience and exposure to global perspectives in the field of high-tech engineering.

Introweek and Student Support

The program includes an introweek, which is designed to introduce students to the program, the university, and the city of Delft. The university also provides various support services to help students adjust to the program and achieve their academic goals.
