Nutrition, Health and Wellness Program

The Nutrition, Health and Wellness program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the health and wellness industry. This program is ideal for professionals looking to advance their skills and knowledge in health and wellness, as well as individuals seeking to pursue a new career in the field.


Program Overview

The program is offered online and can be completed in approximately 8 months. Students will learn about health and wellness in the workplace, nutrition fundamentals, fitness and healthy living, nutrition for the various stages of the life cycle, and healthy aging in retirement community residences.

Certificate of Professional Learning in Nutrition, Health and Wellness

To earn the Certificate of Professional Learning in Nutrition, Health and Wellness, students must complete any three of the five specialist courses listed:


  • NHW 100: Nutrition Fundamentals
  • NHW 102: Nutrition, Fitness and Healthy Living
  • NHW 103: Nutrition for the Lifecycle
  • HRM 941: Wellness In The Workplace
  • RCM 101: Healthy Aging: Health, Wellness and Nutrition

Admission Requirements

This program is open enrolment, which means there is no formal application or admission procedure. To enrol in a course, simply register online. Our courses can be taken as part of a program or individually.


Language Requirements

If English is not your native language, you must meet McMaster University’s English proficiency requirements by either qualifying for an exemption or passing a McMaster-approved English test.

To register for our courses and programs, visit the program page, select a course, and proceed with the registration steps. Payment must be made in full at the time of enrolment, and online credit card or debit payments are preferred.

Schedule

The Nutrition, Health and Wellness course schedules are available to help you plan your academic year. Registration for Fall and Winter terms opens in mid-July, and Spring term opens in mid-March. Courses run in the Eastern Time (ET) Zone, and course fees include a McMaster Part Time Student fee.


Course Fees

A McMaster Part Time Student fee is included in the cost of academic credit courses. There is no tax on courses unless indicated at the bottom of the schedule chart. New students pay a one-time, non-refundable $39 activation fee for their first academic-credit course. Not every program or course requires textbooks.
