Program Overview


Electrical and Electronic Engineering BEng

The University of Sheffield offers a comprehensive Electrical and Electronic Engineering BEng program, designed to equip students with a strong foundation in electrical and electronic engineering, combining theory and hands-on skills. Modules

The course structure includes:


  • First year: Core modules such as Group Project and Engineering Skills, Engineering system modelling and analysis, Analysis tools for mechatronics, computer engineering and AI, Electric and Magnetic Circuits, and Analogue and Digital Electronics.
  • Second year: Modules include Design Project, Control, communications and mathematics, Embedded System Engineering, Analogue devices and circuits, and Electrical energy conversion.
  • Third year: Students can choose a specialization, including Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Communications.

Learning and Assessment

Learning is delivered through a combination of lectures, practical labs, and tutorials, as well as independent study supported by problem classes. Assessment is based on a mixture of exams/tests, coursework, and practical sessions.


Entry Requirements

The standard offer for this course includes A Levels with grades AAB, including Maths and a science. Alternative qualifications, such as International Baccalaureate, BTEC Extended Diploma, and Access to HE Diploma, are also accepted.
