In the subject-related part of the study, modern German literature, medieval studies, and linguistics are studied. Modern German literature deals with German literature from the early modern period to the present. It conveys literary and cultural historical knowledge and the methodology of literary interpretation. Medieval studies represent the medieval part of German literature and language history (the development of the German language from Old High German to New High German). Linguistics deals with language as a system (grammar, vocabulary) and language as a means of communication (pragmatics, socio- and psycholinguistics, language acquisition, language development).
  • Subject-Didactic Part: The subject-didactic part of the study combines the subject-related knowledge with the requirements of the school. Here, models of language and literature teaching, empirical teaching research on language and literature teaching, and concepts for diagnosing and planning literary and linguistic learning are presented.
