Program details

Which topics are dealt with in the program?

  • The integrated Bachelor's program in History TübAix can be found here.
  • The Integrierter Deutsch-Französischer Geschichtsstudiengang Tübingen/Aix-en-Provence (TübAix) offers a binational Master's program in History, where one year is spent in Tübingen and one year in Aix-en-Provence. The order can be chosen freely. This allows students to acquire not only solid language skills but also to learn about the different and complementary scientific approaches and university systems of both countries.

How is the program structured?

  • The two-year Master's phase of the integrated program is spent half at each university, with the students free to choose the order.
  • Option A involves spending the first Master's year in Tübingen, where main seminars and partial exams in a historical core area and another historical epoch or an affiliated minor subject are taken. The second Master's year is then spent in Aix, where the Master's thesis is also written.
  • Option B involves starting the Master's phase in Aix, where introductory and specialization courses are attended, before then taking modules in a historical core area and another historical epoch or an affiliated minor subject in Tübingen, where the Master's thesis is also written.
  • Regardless of the order, the Master's thesis is evaluated by one lecturer from each university.
  • After successfully completing this study phase, graduates are awarded the diplomas of both universities (M.A./Master).
