Program details
Which topics are dealt with in the program?
The Master's program in Islamic Practical Theology "Pastoral Care" offers students a well-founded academic education that enables them to work scientifically and practically at the interface of religious (especially Islamic), social, and cultural topics and issues.
Students can work diligently and in detail after completing their Master's program and systematically reflect on their own or others' experiences. Furthermore, the Master's program promotes the general written and oral communication skills of the students, who, rhetorically sensitized, are familiar with the importance of linguistic nuances. Students can work independently according to scientific principles, apply scientific methods, argue convincingly and factually, interpret independently, and critically question learned knowledge.
With the choice of the study program Islamic Practical Theology "Pastoral Care", students can expect a multifaceted, practice-oriented Master's program at a lively, innovative theological center.
The students have the opportunity to deepen their subject-specific interests, to scientifically found them, and to further develop and implement them in the form of a practice of Islamic theology.
This study program is a novelty in Germany. It is interdisciplinary and interreligious in orientation and aims at the training of Islamic pastoral care workers and the mediation of action competencies for the fields of social work.
Students receive the opportunity to reflect on their skills in various practical fields (pastoral care in hospitals and prisons, refugee work, youth work, counseling of communities, etc.) and to critically question different scientific approaches and theories.
Characteristically, this Master's program includes mandatory internships in each semester. These offer both the opportunity to get to know the different pastoral care fields and to critically question different scientific approaches and theories. The internships also enable the development of one's own research.
