MSc Computer Science with Data Analytics

Course Content
The programme consists of eight-week modules that provide an introduction to and experience of computational thinking and problem-solving across software, hardware, artificial intelligence, and data analysis. The research methods and research proposal modules develop critical evaluation, academic research, and writing skills, providing a sound basis for the individual research project.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:
- Apply computational thinking to big data problems
- Analyse a big data problem from a written description and derive requirements and specifications
- Build computer-based systems of varying levels of complexity
- Critically evaluate and effectively apply data mining tools and algorithms
- Scope, plan, manage, and execute an individual research project of significant size in data analytics
- Communicate complex computational problems and their solutions in written format to technical and non-technical professional colleagues
- Operate as responsible computer science professionals, maintaining awareness of key legal and ethical issues and risk management
Scholarships
Students of the MSc Computer Science with Data Analytics may be eligible for the Office for Students Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Scholarships. These scholarships support UK students from non-computing backgrounds looking to move into computer science careers. Successful applicants will receive a £10,000 scholarship and a 10% discount on their tuition fees.
