Informatics Program Overview

The Informatics program at the University of Missouri is a joint program of 43 faculty from 14 different departments in seven schools/colleges. The program offers emphasis areas in bioinformatics, geospatial informatics, and health informatics, with a core curriculum that provides students with a foundation of knowledge and tools in biology, computer sciences, health systems, and statistics.

Program Structure

The Informatics program is a doctoral program that offers a PhD in three tracks: bioinformatics, geospatial informatics, and health informatics. Students with areas of interest outside of informatics may also pursue a collaborative degree program between the Informatics Institute and other degree programs.

Admission Criteria

• Entrance Term:
  • Fall: December 1 (priority deadline), March 1 (final deadline)
• Preferred GPA: 3.3 out of 4.0
• Sufficient background and training to pursue an advanced degree in informatics

  • Verbal + Quantitative: 307
  • Analytical: 3.5-4.0
• GMAT:
  • Overall Score: 570

Minimum Language Requirements

Program Details

The Informatics program is designed to provide students with a broad exposure to the field of informatics and foster new insights and innovative research concepts. The program is eligible for the STEM OPT Extension. The purpose of the collaborative degree program is to allow students the opportunity to obtain advanced degrees in fields that complement the study of informatics and expand the student’s knowledge and applicability.
