Bachelor's and Integrated Master’s Degrees

First Degree in Mining and Geo-Environmental Engineering

The First Degree in Mining and Geo-Environmental Engineering (L.EMG) is a licentiate program in mining engineering at the Faculty of Engineering (FEUP). The program aims to equip students with a design profile, enabling them to operate and design a mining system in its full complexity.


Job Opportunities

  • Within the mining industry: Extraction and processing of metal and industrial ores, fuel, ornamental rocks, and inert materials.
    • Fields of activity: extraction industry in mines, quarries, cement industry, and the water industry; construction, involving earthmoving, tunnels, and dams.
    • Services: applied research laboratories, supervision and licencing, design and planning offices.
  • In the environmental field: Environmental impact and assessment studies; environmental technologies related to the treatment of solid waste and intervention in contaminated sites, in particular groundwater and earth.
    • Fields of activity: Companies operating in the Geo-environmental field, design offices, land use planning services.
