The Program Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – COFUND FutureData4EU offers 10 doctoral positions to train future experts in Big Data. This program is co-financed by the European Commission with a total of 9 million euros and is coordinated by the University of Bologna in collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna Region and other regional universities.
Program Details
- The program aims to create a "regional doctoral school" to train qualified experts in various Data Science themes.
- The program is open to candidates of any nationality who meet the specified requirements.
Requisiti di Ammissione (Admission Requirements)
To be eligible for the program, candidates must:
- Not have resided or worked in Italy for more than 12 months in the 3 years preceding the application deadline (March 11, 2022 - March 10, 2025).
- Hold a second-level academic degree (e.g., master's degree, specialist degree, or equivalent).
- Not have already obtained a doctoral degree.
Program Structure
The program includes:
- A three-year doctoral course with a focus on Big Data.
- Three dimensions of training:
- Disciplinary and multidisciplinary research projects.
- Transversal skills, such as writing and presenting scientific articles, managing research data, and open science.
- International and intersectoral secondments.
Durata del Dottorato (Duration of the Doctorate)
The doctoral program lasts for three years.

- Culture, Creativity, and Inclusive Society.
- Civil Security for Society.
- Digital, Industry, and Space.
- Climate, Energy, and Mobility.
- Enabling Technologies.
Contrattualizzazione (Contractualization)
Selected candidates will receive an employment contract for 36 months, with a gross annual salary of 27,238.83 euros. The contract includes a living allowance and a mobility allowance to cover relocation expenses.
Access to the Doctorate
To access the doctoral program, candidates must submit an application through the dedicated online procedure. The application deadline is March 10, 2025, at 14:00 (CEST). The selection process involves an evaluation of the candidate's titles and research project, as well as an oral examination.
