Objectives
The program's primary objective is to form specialists capable of operating with high responsibility in the protection, management, and valorization of archaeological heritage. This includes the ability to work in public and private structures with a focus on the scientific, technical, and administrative aspects of archaeological heritage management.
Structure of the Program
- The program is organized into different study areas and includes four professionalizing curricula related to archaeological scientific disciplines.
- The curricula are:
- Archeologia classica
- Archeologia orientale
- Archeologia preistorica e protostorica
- Archeologia tardo antica e medievale
- The program includes stages and internships, as well as a final exam.
Admission Requirements
- Eligibility: The program is open to candidates with a second-cycle degree (300 CFU) or a degree from the old system equivalent to the aforementioned degrees.
- Required Credits: Candidates must have acquired at least 90 credits in the disciplinary areas characterizing the specialization.
- Admission Procedure: Admission is through a competition based on exams and titles. The competition includes an oral exam and the evaluation of the candidate's titles.
Evaluation of Titles
- The commission evaluating the titles has a total of 30 points available, distributed as follows:
- Up to 7 points for a research doctorate or first or second-level master's degree in subjects related to the School of Specialization in Archaeological Heritage.
- Up to 8 points for the thesis of specialization or master's degree, or quadrennial degree (according to the old system), discussed in disciplines related to the specialization, and for the graduation vote.
- Up to 5 points for the votes obtained in the exams of profit sustained during the specialization or master's degree, or quadrennial degree (according to the old system), provided they are related to the specialization.
- Up to 5 points for scientific publications.
- Up to 3 points for the individual CV (training courses related to the subjects of the School, professional experiences, second degrees, and other equivalent titles).
- Up to 2 points for participation in archaeological excavation activities, adequately documented.
Examination Schedule
- The oral exam will take place on November 12, 2025, at 9:30 AM in the presence of the Commission in Aula 11 (via Zamboni 22), Palazzo Malvezzi.
Credits and Attendance
- The program has a duration of two academic years and provides for the acquisition of a total of 120 CFU.
- Attendance at lessons, conferences, seminars, as well as participation in practical activities, stages, and internships, is mandatory and is considered acquired with participation in at least 70% of each training activity.
Final Exam
- At the end of each year, the student must pass a theoretical-practical exam on the training activities carried out during the year, evaluated by a special commission.
- The final exam consists of the discussion of an original work in the form of a scientific-managerial project (specialization thesis) related, for example, to the integrated knowledge of a territory, excavation, restoration, enhancement of archaeological areas, museum preparation of archaeological goods, promotion, and communication of related activities.
